April Joy Clarke
RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)
After learning of my distant relative, 13th Great Grandmother Sybille of Cleves, I became entranced by her portrait and the extravagant forms of the 1600’s when King Henry the 8th had his reign. The fashions were superfluous, valuing extravagant forms and flouting riches, in total opposition to the function based archetypes of todays Fashion. With a focus on womenswear, I’ve adapted prints and silhouettes from this time blending with the consistent movement to casualise fashion to create my trans-seasonal graduate collection Anemoia.
