Interdependence, is a collection initially informed by my own personal experiences as a Type One Diabetic. As the designs progressed, the intention of my project shifted to a place of experimentation particularly around fluidity and form. The focus became on pushing myself away from creating controlled archetypal garments and taking more risks with the form. The idea of control stems from the organisation and accuracy required within the management of type one diabetes. I was drawn to the cording technique used within the collection as I recognised a visual connection between the cording and the appearance of insulin pump tubing.
