‘Solace Nights; versions of space and surroundings’, is a narrative, dedicated to the stillness, softness and silence experienced during, and in the aftermath of the pandemic. The collection follows my personal lived experience throughout lockdown, questioning how external environments can shape our understanding of space and time, in constant interaction with the body. In unison, the pieces work to unpack a chronicle of loneliness, isolation and dissonance, reconnoitring concepts such as bodily protection, sculptural materialization and dystopia. Stimulated by the abstract and conceptual possibilities of contemporary art, artisanal techniques explored within the collection include wet leather moulding, foulard draping and soft tailoring
