Minxuan

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

My collection captures the now classic iconography of the 1990s in China, the time of my early childhood and of my parents' young adulthood. I want to draw parallels between the experience of my parents generation and of my experiences. My use of zippers, yarn, ribbons and thread, are representative of family connections, all tools to join separate pieces together to create a whole, like the members of a family. Drawing on my childhood, a sense of safety is fostered through my use of loose and puffy silhouettes as well as soft and comfortable designs.
