RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Society’s assumptions often decide whose actions are villainous. The nefariousness of an individual may be a vision we have created from our own misunderstandings of the world around us. Not all villains are deeply bad, and I call these people ‘anti-villains’. Rebelling against social norms, they leave behind a powerful message about how society can make someone fall into the clutches of its darkness. This project focuses on my inner darker persona, my own anti-villain. I was a prisoner to the anti-villain within me and so are so many others. Through an exploration of classic examples of anti-villains, fashion rebels and inner darkness, I created a collection that’s a spectacle of collaged textiles, wild forms and all round extremity – wild and easily misunderstood visuals - drawn from the anti-villain within me.
