RMIT Bachelor of Textiles (Design)

'From the River to the Sea' is a personal textile project that explores identity, politics, displacement and nostalgia. In my work I developed a collection of silk scarves loosely inspired by the traditional Palestinian keffiyeh, a symbol of the Palestinian struggle. I drew from an archive of historic family photos from my grandmother’s life in Palestine before she was exiled from Jerusalem in 1948. The project sets out to pay homage to the Palestinian diaspora and honour the right of return for displaced peoples, a universal right for all.
