My inspiration comes from a character in the Chinese novel A Dream of the Red Chamber. The most famous scene of Xiangyun is when she gets drunk and sleeps in the garden. I designed an unconventional collection using gelatin-based biomaterial as the primary material. I combined traditional garment-making techniques with bioplastic to create a one-of-a-kind, environmentally friendly fashion collection. Both gelatine and pleated garments with floral prints have symbolic meanings. I compared the dignified rules to the naked and inebriated figure. Women being undressed and drunk may be considered obscene or too lewd. I wanted my project to portray a woman free of the male gaze and out from a silent, violent, judgmental environment or even a chaotic beauty released in uninhibited gender transcendence.
