RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

This collection explores costume design as a methodology to translate the subjectivity of past experience as a dancer into something physical I can grasp. Through the use of archiving and cataloguing as a research method, I have investigated my used dance shoes, costumes and accessories as individual objects. Through the deconstruction and reconstruction of these existing found materials, I am able to develop hybrid garments that bound functionality and performative expression. This composite of theatrical expression and functionality allows me as a designer to rebirth characters left in the past and memories left behind, challenging the viewer as to what once was.
