Oliver Layton

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

As a lifelong swimmer, one of the unique aspects of swimming is ending up with goggle marks around the eyes; my family affectionately coined “Raccoon eyes”. Clothing Constrictor reframes our relationship to dress by emphasising its grapple. Uniform has been constricted under form-fitting latex leaving imprints of dress on the body. There is no hope for fashion in its current state, my redirective practice works to change our approach. Undergarments and a coat may suffice so let us break free from excessive consumption.

Acknowledgements:
Big thanks to my all family and friends who have helped and supported me up until this point. Notably, my parents Keith and Kelli Layton for all the love and support, Trent Tooley for supplying tram handles, Maria De Lourdes for glue when I needed it most and Scott Pennykid with cut & sew.

Special thank you to my sponsor, Quealy Winemakers.
