Paris James

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Through my graduate collection Vixen, I aim to challenge the notion of ‘Ideal beauty standards’ within the current climate of the fashion industry. My material choice and design approach reflect my concept of revealing and concealing a woman’s body; pairing liberation with restriction, subverting historical lingerie elements with a contemporary twist and flipping traditional undergarments into outer garments. My practice and design process consists of using stretch fabrication, vintage lingerie elements, and intricate trims to create a collection on
the principle of female body empowerment.
