RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Throughout my life, I have always feared death. Memento Mori is a collection of three looks where I explore death as an omnipresent force, both hauntingly beautiful and profoundly powerful. The collection juxtaposes heaviness and lightness, softness and hardness, brightness and darkness, reflecting the complexity of life and death. Some motifs include spikes - symbolising pain and suffering, skulls - signifying mortality, and distressed fabrics - representing fragility and decay. I’ve also woven in elements of traditional mourning attire including shirts, suits, ties, and black and white colours, offering a comprehensive reflection of emotions around death.
