‘Through the Stained Glass: A Tribute to Opa’ is a couture inspired collection that explores the imagery of stained glass in alternative materials. This concept began when I was sitting in my primary school church waiting for my grandfather’s funeral to commence looking around at the architecture and stained glass. I chose to further infuse the stained-glass imagery with meaning by including floral motifs that acknowledged his heritage and our relationship. Also evident in this collection are inspirations from the medieval period, as this is when stained glass rose to prominence, juxtaposed with elements of modern technology including laser cutting.
