Scorched Harvest is a fashion collection exploring the enduring hostility in persevering farm life, with an initiative toward slow fashion, honouring traditional construction methods and the Australian outback. A familiarity with the life cycle; lamb birthing and sheep burials on my grandparent’s farm, developed my understanding of the rural existence and fascination with reaped goods scavenged from the bowels of the land.

Offcuts of discarded cedar formed a foundation for the collection, in industrial platformed footwear and an exoskeleton of decrepit treasure. I emphasised structure and silhouette as a visual focus, juxtaposing a skeletal armour of austere leather and wood with soft plumes of decaying vintage silks, alongside analogue applique and embroidery in reference to traditional saddlery construction and dressage adornments.

Scorched Harvest evokes the essence of the Australian farmland; vast, ancient, fruitful, desolate.
