RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

'Herc' was deeply inspired to bridge the gap between dance-wear and streetwear, with a new fresh, funky feel. I wanted the textile design to be at the forefront of this project, I was motivated by the arrival of hip-hop within the 1970s, the culture, music and fashion; this led me to create patterns based off of the revival of art nouveau and art deco within this decade. Myself being a dancer I took into consideration the textile qualities- breathability, comfort, warmth and movement. My vision was for 'Herc' to be transferrable between dance/activewear and streetwear, for its unique patterns and brightness to gain traction and inspire other performance wear brands to really play with their materials.
