RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

A collection formed from my exploration of Australian culture throughout the late 20th century. My ideas are predominately fuelled through the experimental film genre ‘Ozploitation’. White Australia holds such an unusual identity, powered by a cocktail of influences from around the world as we sit so isolated from other countries. Costume in these films tells us a lot about the cultural climate of an era, the characters are battling against this unforgiving environment, one that is not theirs.

White Australia’s uncertain authenticity is both unstable and unpredictable, I find this unlocks a pallet of inspiration and research for my practice.
