'Gamble Your Life Away’, draws inspiration from the mystical Las Vegas Casino culture and professional dress silhouettes of employees who facilitate these bizarre environments. Within my practice, I investigate archetypes, related signifiers of these classic designs and how far the boundaries can be subverted to redefine our assumptions of both the wearer and their fashion choices. My latest collection progresses this design exploration but also draws insight from Nadia Lee Cohen’s photography series ‘HELLO, My Name Is’, and her croupier Yvett. Transitioning our attention from visiting casino patrons to the raw, working-class employees, ‘Gamble Your Life Away’ infuses an optimistic, kooky energy into conventional uniform silhouettes.
