Matilda Roberts

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Modernism has created a drab daily life by removing any detail deemed unnecessary for mere function, insinuating that beauty is not only subpar to function, but irrelevant altogether. My collection combines traditional and tactile techniques of making with modern technologies, showing that slow, traditional techniques don’t have to become obsolete as technology continues to advance. ‘’All Tied Up’’ embraces mundanity through the process of dressing, focusing on combining functional archetypes and ornamental detail to elevate the mundane parts of everyday life. We spend most of our lives completing ordinary daily tasks that we may as well make them more enjoyable by adding modern opulence to the mundane.
