Summer Gourlie

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

'Potpourri' is a collection inspired by my Nan's memory and explores the process of grieving through up-cycling. I regret not reclaiming many of her possessions to turn them into pieces I could wear and cherish. The collection's materials are unwanted items from second-hand stores reminiscent of her style and deadstock fabrics. I collaborated with Max Richardson, a jewellery apprentice, to create pieces that blended my stylised aesthetic with my Nan's love of florals and gardening to create Potpourri. I hope to show a new perspective on ways to reimagine items of loved ones passed by combining your narrative with theirs.
