RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

My collection 'The Lotus' is a fusion of the lotus flower's life period and Chinese traditional handcraft, "ronghua," harmoniously woven with elements of the traditional cheongsam, resulting in contemporary Chinese lotus dresses. The collection depicts the lotus's life cycle from inception to withering alongside the meticulous craftsmanship and making process behind ronghua. A precious yet endangered Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage, ronghua involves the meticulous use of fine velvet threads and copper wires to sculpt lifelike blossoms through combing, cutting, and rubbing techniques. Through my creations, I aspire to illuminate these traditional arts and celebrate the traditional Chinese culture.
