Fins of Freedom is an evening wear collection that draws inspiration from my memories of witnessing betta fish fights as a kid born and raised in Indonesia. Using natural dyes and shibori technique, I replicate the vibrancy and intricate patterns of betta fish tails. I explored methods of gathering and draping, using natural-based and recycled materials to emphasise the importance of sustainable and ethical practices. The collection highlights animal cruelty through mola art, symbolising the scars of these majestic creatures. Fins of Freedom aims to demonstrate that beautiful and meaningful art can be created without harmful practice.
