Emily Florence

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Drawing inspiration from the silhouettes and finishes of circus costumes and late 19th-century fashion, my project constructs a tableau of a dressing room in which inherited and found garments are worn, tossed aside or haphazardly styled by the protagonist, a trapeze artist. Elements of the project such as silhouette and fabrication are inspired by the concept of trapeze, particularly by the structural features of circus tents, the costumes of performers, and their movements.
