Gia Vega

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Throughout my fashion design practice, I have been repeatedly confronted by the systemic fatphobia and unrealistic beauty standards that permeate the fashion industry. DYSMORPHXA is an introspective collection that expresses my experience, and the experience of others, with body dysmorphia. My collection positions the body, with all its imperfections, as the focal archetype, reimagining traditionally unattractive qualities, in a refreshing new light that celebrates the beauty of these imperfections.
