The 'Marry Freedom' wedding collection is inspired by diverse gender aesthetics and wedding experiences, focusing on inclusivity and respect. The goal is to challenge binary fashion norms, subvert traditional wedding attire concepts, and break gender norms, promoting inclusivity in the wedding fashion industry and granting sexual minorities the freedom to choose their wedding attire. The project explores how to deconstruct and reconstruct traditional male (suits, shirts, pants) and female (lingerie, gowns, corsets, sheer garments) clothing to create gender-fluid designs. Instead of relying on ornate lace or sequins, the collection uses cotton shirting fabric, suit wool blending fabric, elevated silk, and tulle. It incorporates exaggerated and flexible boning, wire-bending, gathering, tucks, and pleating techniques to create androgynous wedding dresses that subvert traditional binary wedding fashion aesthetics and deconstruct gender norms.
