The project Another Shelter is inspired by cocoons, tents, and newborn swaddles, all of which provide a sense of security by creating a protective shell or shelter around the life within. This got me thinking, is this form or space what brings security? As we grow into adults, no longer wrapped in tiny blankets, and even leaving the space we know as 'home', how do we feel safe again? Looking back on my personal experiences, I started to realize that space or form only provides a shell, and that the real sense of habitation and security requires interaction between people and space. Textiles, as a second skin for the body, serve the function of creating a "shelter".
