Due to COVID-19, restrictions have kept everyone trapped at home, which largely hinders normal social interaction. Younger generations are entering a self-enclosed state of slow life. The restrictions have also prevented me from going out to experience nature and culture, so I turned to my home environment for inspiration. Room of Solitude is a series of costumes about home life. Furniture inspired the silhouettes and textures were inspired by carpets and blankets.

IMAGE 1: ROOM OF SOLITUDE
DESCRIPTION: COLLAGE, DRAWING AND PROCREATE

IMAGES 2 & 3: LOOK 1
DESCRIPTION: Knitted top, sleeves and skirt were inspired by the lamp and desk, using knitting, gathering and tufting textures.
MATERIALS: wool yarns, suede, wires, cotton fabrics

IMAGES 3 & 4: LOOK 2
DESCRIPTION: The inspiration of the skirt was from sofa chair. The skirt could be sat down in and lifted up when the wearer moves.
MATERIALS: wool yarns, suede, wires, cotton fabrics

IMAGES 5 & 6: LOOK 3
DESCRIPTION: The sleeves were inspired by the sofa and the whole garment has a pajama’s element. Those blue small pillows in the front were pockets, which was convenient. I also added gathering texture on the back sleeves to increase the layering sense.
MATERIALS: wool yarns, suede, wires, cotton fabrics.
