Tess Beinssen

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

My collection explores the concept of ‘cozy clothes’, and the gradual relaxation of feminine styles throughout history. For my looks, I drew inspiration from historical garments that may seem stiff and formal to the modern wearer, but were designed to be sleepwear, sportswear or comfortable alternatives to popular styles. I hope to highlight the subjective nature of fashion by contrasting modern and historical standards of comfort in my exuberant, bright and cheery designs.

Materials: Up-Cycled Cotton Scrap, Up-Cycled Silk Scrap, Up-Cycled Cotton Yardage, Up-Cycled wool blankets, Up-Cycled Cotton Sheets, Polyester Thread, Cotton Thread, Vintage Crochet Lace
