Ash Grace Gowans

RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

The Saint Valentine collection and design narrative is inspired by both my relationship with religious influence and my relationship with queer identity. With visual reference from Puritan silhouettes of the 1600s, to European performance lingerie, the collection juxtapositions both modesty and sexuality to criticise the oppression of intimacy. Saint Valentine’s Den works to catalyse discourse and consideration surrounding the hyper-sexualization of innocence and shame.
