RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

For my collection, I’ve taken inspiration from futuristic/post-apocalyptic films and took on board our current effects of climate change. My project has been set 200 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic world where the overproduction of materials no longer exists. Humans have exhausted every natural resource including petroleum. A selfish lifestyle where constant death has become the new normal. For this collection, 90% of the garments have been made with preowned materials. The aesthetics of the pieces are utilitarian and futuristic. Snap buttons, straps, buckles, distressed surfaces and a monochrome colour palette are the main elements to combine the old and the new in this unknown future.
