RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

The "Bloom" Autumn/Winter 2024 Collection centres around the essence of the mysterious queen of the night flower or the Tanhua flower(昙花), which blooms once a year, revealing its delicate white petals at night and fading away by dawn. As a fashion designer, I aim to create a collection of wearable art that draws attention, like the queen of the night which mesmerises her audience during its brief bloom. This collection is deeply inspired by my cultural heritage, which incorporates elements from both Indonesian kebaya and the Chinese cheongsam. Each garment in the collection represents the phases of the blooming flower, from the initial leaves to the eventual wilting. Silhouettes of the traditional attires will be reimaged to reflect the queen of the night flower, creating a blend of culture and natural beauty.
