RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

My project Root is an exploration of my cultural heritage, merging traditional Chinese pattern motifs with my fascination for materials and a commitment to sustainable practices, which is a continuing theme of my persona project. Inspired by the forgotten clay artifacts in my hometown museum and natural wonders.
The project aims to explore through materials and embark on a personal journey of self-discovery and cultural dissemination.
This project symbolizes the passage of time and the evolution of culture. Embracing the imperfections of handmade craftsmanship, my pieces are imbued with warmth and character, offering a counterbalance to the "perfect and delicate" aesthetic prevalent in contemporary fashion.
My exploration of a cultural heritage journey will begin with an array of handcrafted techniques, including hand-moulded ceramic pieces, weaving, knitting, and latex application, each bearing the mark of my personal touch.
