RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Soothe my tired soul is a speculative collection that points to an absence of physical affection during a time of 1.5m distance. My collection explores themes of connection, touch, vulnerability and togetherness, things we all miss dearly. The garments explore how they could act as additive measures or a replacements of this physical affection, specifically in this feeling of being held. My designs take an introspective and deeply personal approach to normalise conversation about often taboo topics including emotion, feelings and mental health through stylised therapeutic qualities. My design project hopes to posit softness and sensitivity as a strength whilst starting conversations and raising awareness for related mental health issues.
