RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

‘Keep Ithaca always in your mind’ intimately connects to my culture and identity through the ritualistic history of women’s textile handicrafts in Ancient Greece and sentimental materials. Named after Cavafy’s poem interpreting the story of The Odyssey focusing on the discovery and growth made along the journey rather than the destination. Ithaca symbolising my journey and growth, aching to connect with the generations of women in my family, and with myself. The collection is an interweaving of materials from my grandmother, pleated, embroidered, and knitted with stones and shells from the Ionian Sea, representing my “marvellous journey”.
