In this project I explore the notion of surveillance and connection. In a time where our digital identity has taken precedence, I ask what differentiates the 'watched' and 'unwatched' self and I comment on contemporary human connection. My project specifically looks at many of the brutalist monuments spread across former Yugoslavia called 'Spomeniks' that were constructed to promote unity across all social landscapes. These grand, indestructible and futuristic Structures still stand neglected across the lands, inadvertently becoming a symbol of surveillance or a reminder of what could’ve been or perhaps what still could be.
