RMIT Bachelor of Fashion (Design)

Homecoming reflects my personal lived experiences of adolescence as a child of first-generation Chinese immigrants in Australia. This collection observes through a lens of nostalgia and curiosity, reflecting on the representation of East-Asian identities in the western context. The intentions of this collection are informed by my relationship with both East and West. Translating the archetype into an amalgamated reflection of a personal and cultural identity, a story of heritage is told creating a deeper sense of connection with family. Homecoming pushes towards more meaningful consumption of fashion, with the garments becoming larger than just ‘clothes’, rather they become storytellers.
